New this year is Cortney Bruce: 4-year old's Assistant

We are excited to welcome Cortney Bruce to our teaching team this year. She will be helping in all classes but mainly in the 4 year olds. Cortney has been a stay-at-home mom of four amazing kids for the last 5 years and happily married to Todd her middle school sweetheart. Cortney comes from a large family being one of 7 kids growing up so she’s used to staying busy and knowing how to get creative to keep kids entertained. Cortney enjoys spending time with her family and doing all things outdoors. She also enjoys reading, painting, photography, and doing all things creative with her kids.

Kathy Haynes: 4-year-old's Co-Teacher

Kathy is an experienced teacher who has worked in a preschool and public middle school setting. She taught as a substitute teacher in elementary and middle school. She taught for three years at Christiana Play School before completing her Bachelor’s Degree at Catawba College with a concentration in Middle School Education Language Arts and Social Studies. Kathy earned her Gifted Education Certification and Masters Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and taught at Erwin Middle School for 17 years before retiring to provide daycare for her granddaughter. She has been the Nursery Sunday School teacher for 12 years at Christiana. Kathy wants to continue teaching and has a passion for working with preschool age children to help them develop skills to be caring and compassionate children who will become lifelong learners. She believes that play is the learning basis for socialization and early education for preschoolers.

Kelly Miller: 4-year-old's Co-Teacher AND the Preschool's Music Teacher

Kelly is a mom to four amazing kids whom she has homeschooled from preschool through high school. As a Pastor’s kid, she grew up being heavily involved in church ministry and that continues to this day. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, sewing, and playing the piano. Kelly also directs Rowan Singers Homeschool Chorus.

Becca Wyrick: 2 & 3-year-old's Teacher

Becca is a lady who really enjoys spending as much of her time outdoors with her family as she can. She's one of those girly girls that likes all of the shades of the color pink, and butterflies and flowers and warm sunny days. However, Becca also really likes playing and watching sports and fishing at the lake or doing anything at all in her ultimate happy place—the beach! She has a weakness for a nice cold diet soda and most enjoys staying busy, and maybe that’s why she also has FIVE beautiful children! Becca is so excited for this upcoming school year and all the fun and growth she will be experiencing with your children. Prior to joining Christiana’s Preschool Program, Becca had her own in-home childcare for about 6 years.

Jennifer Honeycutt: 3-year-old's Assistant Teacher

Jennifer and her family are long-time members of Christiana. She's married to Daniel, an engineer, and they have two children—Gabe is a senior at Carson and Aubrey is attending Western Carolina University. Jennifer has been a stay-at-home mom for the past 19 years so she's familiar with the challenges of raising a family in a busy world. She loves to see people enjoy her cooking and has won 1st place in Christiana’s Chili Cook-Off every time it's been held. In her free time Jennifer can be found reading and also enjoys reading to others—children and adults—as she's been a lay reader for Christiana’s worship services. Jennifer looks forward to seeing children blessed this year at the new Christiana Creative Preschool.
